Newcastle United have completed the signing of French defender Florian Lejeune from La Liga side Eibar on a five-year-deal.

The 26-year-old signs with the Premier League club for a fee reported to be around £8.7 million.

A Manchester City player in the past, Lejeune is a versatile player who can comfortably operate as a central midfielder or defender.

He enjoyed a breakout season last campaign with La Liga’s surprise package Eibar who finished 10th overall after being tipped for relegation.

Lejeune will hope his second opportunity in English football will be more eventful than at City where he failed to make a first-team appearance.
