Aston Villa have signed midfielder Conor Hourihane for an undisclosed fee on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

The 25 year-old leaves fellow Championship club Barnsley after he made 112 league appearances and scored 29 goals for them.

He rejoins former Barnsley team-mate James Bree who also swapped Oakwell for Villa Park after he joining on Wednesday.

Hourihane is the third midfielder Steve Bruce has signed after Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason joined from FC Basel and Henri Lansbury penned a deal after signing from Nottingham Forest last week.
