Aston Villa have signed right-back James Bree from Barnsley on a four-and-a-half-year deal for what is being reported as a “substantial fee”.
The promising 19 year-old joins having made his Barnsley debut at the age of 16 in 2014.
Bree has since gone on to make 61 appearances for the Tykes including winning promotion from League One last season.
Bree has stated that Villa manager Steve Bruce was a big factor in his decision to sign for Villa over other opportunities at other clubs.
This transfer follows Villa today also confirming the signing of Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason.
