Hamburg have signed Greek defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos on a six-month loan from Bayer Leverkusen.

Papadopoulos had joined fellow Bundesliga club RB Leipzig on loan in the summer but the deal was cut short after he made just one appearance for the title challengers, taking the field for 27 minutes.

The Greece international failed to force his way into the Leipzig team’s plans who are the surprise package of this season sitting behind only Champions Bayern Munich.

The 24 year-old had to undergo surgery in November, but he will now look to his career with relegation contenders Hamburg which will be the fourth Bundesliga club he will have signed for in his career.
